The strength of the spirit of our nation comes from Latvian folk songs, in which our ancestors have found a way to multiply the beauty of Latvia’s nature, to feel blue in the minutes of sadness or just enjoy life through simple yet catchy melodies.

National Armed Forces Bigband wishes to show listeners that our own folk songs can sound in a completely different and unheard rhythms. That is how a new program “Folk song” was born and it was put together by one of the leading Lithuanian jazz music arrangers Rimantas Giedraitis especially for NAF Bigband. “Auga, auga rūžeņa”, “Seši mazi bundzinieki”, “Saulīt vēlu vakarā(i)”, “Caur sidraba birzi gāju”, “Pūt vējiņi” and other well known Latvian folk tunes became a base for a new concert program.
