Lithuanian trumpeter Dominykas Vyšniauskas is known for being a skilled and versatile musician who grew up surrounded by a wide variety of music. In the process of exploring the fundamentals of different musical styles, he continuously strives to find all possible spaces where improvisation could appear. Dominykas Vyšniauskas studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius, Leipzig Music College, SUNY Purchase College New York and the Amsterdam Conservatoire. Currently he is teaching at the Music Academy of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, also at the Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Conservatory in Vilnius and at the Latvian Music Academy. He also works in the Latvian Radio big band. He has participated in major Lithuanian and international jazz festivals and toured throughout Europe, Canada and the US as a participant in various international projects.
«Quartet of Yesterday’s Tomorrow» is inspired by a saying that Dominykas has heard a few years ago in Minsk. The meaning of jazz music today is vast, abstract and also very narrow to some of us at the same time. And it is somehow stuck in time, it can not move forward or either continue to dwell in nostalgia. Stuck in present with all its high hopes and expectations. And in the end it is only about the expression of a given performer, about the purity of the simplicity and realness.
