Franco – Lithuanian jazz project featuring Lithuanian saxophonist Petras Vyšniauskas, his son Dominykas Vyšniauskas on trumpet and Mezcal Jazz Unit, a French band from the Mediterranean region known for their musical encounters with musicians all over the world since 1986. This concert marks the renewal of this unique collaboration that got its start in 1995 and resulted in the CD Ignalina recorded in Vilnius. New compositions by Emmanuel de Gouvello, defined by encounters with traditional musicians worldwide, leave lots of room for improvisation, the trademark of Petras Vyšniauskas and his son Dominikas. Prior to this concert the group will be in residency in Vilnius and a tour of France is slated for 2019.
Mezcal Jazz Unit’s music is defined by the Mediterranean temperament of its musicians, the reminiscences of traditional melodies, an unabashed attraction for the Orient, a rock like energy and a sense of humor. The music goes from cool and reflective to joyous and explosive connecting to the audience with rare complicity.
