Jekaterina Sarigina Trio tells imaginative lyrical stories with playful but intelligently subtle jazz passages, curious improvisations and eclectic grooves. The trio consists of finest jazz musicians from UK, as they join their ideas in various styles and forms of musical expression to reflect jazz flavours and instantly connect to the audience. Through their crafted arrangements, sensitive interpretations of poetry and sophisticated harmonies, the band presents a well-balanced mix of contemporary jazz and American Songbook repertoire.
Jekaterina is an award-winning young jazz vocalist from Riga, currently based in London. She has graduated from the department of jazz at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London where she studied voice and improvisation with Brigitte Beraha and Scott Stroman. Whilst a student, Jekaterina successfully earned an opportunity to do an exchange year at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in France. This musical experience helped her to become a prize-winner in following European vocal jazz competitions – Jazz Voices 2011 in Lithuania and Voicingers 2012 in Poland. Her appearances include performances at Pori Jazz Festival in Finland, Rigas Ritmi festival in Latvia, jazz clubs in French Riviera and various appearances across London: the Spice of Life in Soho, St. Martin-in-the-Field, Barbican free stage, Bridewell theatre and Southside house to name a few.
